Add Ochocinco to list of Hester admirers

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco joined the Devin-Hester-is-the-greatest-punt-returner-ever chorus on Tuesday during the T.Ocho Show, just hours after Deion Sanders said the same during “The Waddle Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000.

Ochocinco said, “most definitely, most definitely,” when asked if Hester was the greatest punt returner in NFL history.

“When you can get the two thumbs up from someone like Deion Sanders … numbers speak for themselves, and his numbers are ridiculous, man,” Ochocinco said. “So right now, Devin Hester is the best punt returner in the history of the NFL, period.”

Hester returned a punt 64 yards for a touchdown in the Bears’ 40-14 win over the Vikings, which clinched the team’s first division crown since 2006. Hester scored 11 return touchdowns in his first two years in the NFL, but his production dipped over the next two seasons.

Hester leads in the NFL in punt-return average (16.4 yards) and kickoff return average (35.2).

Hester produced his record 14 TD returns on kickoffs and punts in 150 fewer games and 783 fewer returns than the No. 2 return man on the list, Brian Mitchell, who scored 13 TDs on returns over a 14-year NFL career. Hester is in his fifth season.
