Darryl Sharpton one of the few bright spots for Texans on Sunday

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak met with the media today at Reliant Stadium for his weekly press conference.  There wasn't much good news to discuss as you might expect, but Kubiak did note the play of rookie Darryl Sharpton.

"He was as good a football player as we had on this field yesterday and I’m sure you all saw it, too," said Kubiak.  "Boy, he really, really played well and he played well on special teams (too).”

I didn't watch every play intently yesterday but I did see #51 flash a few times, once in particular during a sideline pursuit of speedy Titans running back Chris Johnson.

Sharpton missed some games earlier this season because of an injury but if you haven't noticed, he's been starting over weakside linebacker Zac Diles for the past few weeks.

I'm excited about Sharpton's future as an NFL linebacker.  He has quickness and the ability to thump. After seeing him in preseason I thought he would be the natural replacement for Diles.

He may be the best of the Texans 2010 draft crop - at least as it stands in late December, 2010.
